Miniature Ball Screws
Miniature Ball Screws are a very efficient (90-98%) way to translate rotary motion into linear motion versus lead screws that are typically less than 50% efficient. These high efficiency miniature metric precision ball screws are a very cost-effective solution for use in small or compact spaces.

Ball Screws Don’t Slide, They Roll.
Ball Screws have many small balls that provide the antifriction movement between the ball nut and screw. Leadscrews do not have any balls. The nut and screw thread are in direct contact and slide relative to one another. They are much less efficient than ball screws.
Ball Screws are more efficient.
Ball Screws require less motor torque than lead screws allowing you can use smaller motors in your application.

We offer many types of Miniature Ball Screw Assemblies.
Below are a few of the most popular requested types of ball screws.
Precision Ground Ball Screw Assemblies
Ball screw thread is made via a precision grinding process. This provides the highest quality raceway surface for the miniature balls within the ball nut to follow.
This is the highest quality product in all of the miniature ball screws that we offer. These have a completely machined drive end so you will not have to do any additional machining prior to installation.

SG – Product Features
- Accuracy Range C5 to C3
- Finished Machined Drive End
- Diameters 3 to 15 mm
- Axial Play 0 to 5 microns
Precision Rolled Ball Screw Assemblies
Ball screw thread is made via a precision rolling process. This provides an good quality raceway surface for the miniature balls within the ball nut to follow.
The rolled screws ends are not machined, just cut to length. This makes them one of the more economical ball screw products in the miniature ball screw products.
SR – Product Features
- Accuracy Range C10 to C7
- Unfinished Screw Ends
- Diameters 4 to 14 mm
- Axial Play 20 to 50 microns

Bi-Directional Ball Screw Assemblies
These are precision ground screws with a right thread on one side and a left hand thread on the other. Thread lead (or pitch) is the same on either end of the screw. The ball nuts move in opposite directions of each other.
These are frequently use in gripper, clamping, and centering type applications. Available thread leads are 1 and 2 mm.

SD – Product Features
- Accuracy Range C5 to C3
- Unfinished Screw Ends
- Diameters 4 to 12 mm
- Axial Play 0 to 5 microns
Motorized Ball Screw Assemblies
These are ball screw assemblies with a stepper motor directly integrated with the ball screw shaft. No coupling is needed allowing for reduced overall assembly length. The ball nuts move in opposite directions of each other.
These are frequently use in applications when overall length cannot be met with a conventional motor, shaft coupling, and ball screw arrangement.
MOBO – Product Features
- Accuracy Grade C7
- Motor: Stepper 24VDC
- Diameters: 4 to 8 mm
- Repeatability +/- 0.010 mm
- Max Lost Motion 0.010 mm

Custom Ball Screw Assemblies
These are ball screw assemblies that require customization in some form other than the standard preconfigured flanged ball nut catalog offering. They typically require drawings for screw end machining or utilize special ball nuts.
OEM machine and instrument builders choose these products when other solutions are not applicable. These usually require longer lead-time for development.
